“Good afternoon,
Allow me to introduce myself as the Rhode Island acquisitions editor at The History Press, a publisher of local interest and regional history. I am actively seeking local writers in Rhode Island who are interested in tackling book length projects on a variety of aspects of their local history. We publish a wide variety of titles including histories of counties, towns, and neighborhoods; collections of essays on local history and culture; ghost stories; military histories; and even culinary histories. Our books are between 30,000 – 40,000 words and contain quality accompanying images both modern and historic where possible. We are a traditional publisher and handle all stages of the publishing process from editorial, design and production to marketing, sales and distribution and compensate our authors through royalties.
I will gladly talk to writers about book ideas they have concerning local history and will also accept partially or completed manuscripts. Please feel free to browse our website (linked below) to get a better idea of the kinds of books we publish.
Cheers!
