Not sure what to do? / oh, here’s something: Poetic Songs by Ethan Philbrick

imageEthan Philbrick will perform Not sure what to do? / oh here’s something on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:30 pm at 186 Carpenter St. This performance is the culmination of months of work combining Philbrick’s songwriting skills with his love of various poets, from C.P. Cavafy and Audre Lorde to Gwendolyn Brooks and Elizabeth Bishop. “They are songs of loss and sex, deviance and death, pleasure and nostalgia for something you never actually had,” Philbrick says. Each song corresponds to a certain poet and invokes their work through Philbrick’s unique interpretation. Philbrick is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in performance studies at NYU.
