Voices from Beyond

In the taxonomy of horror, haunting is its own depthless kingdom of experience. This writing-centered course will approach being haunted as a means of research and inspiration and as an aspect of horror in literature. Students will explore manuscripts and artifacts in the historic special collections room of the Providence Public Library and write while “possessed” by the voices they encounter. While this course focuses on haunting in horror, the methods will be applicable to all genres, fiction and non-fiction.
