Greetings!
I am writing to ask your assistance with a new program we are offering this spring: A Poetry Workshop for Veterans of War. This is a completely FREE 10-week poetry workshop for veterans, taught by Tina Cane, founder of Writers in the Schools RI.
A POETRY WORKSHOP FOR VETERANS OF WAR
Instructor: Tina Cane
April 6-June 15 (no class April 20)
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm
at School One, 220 University Avenue
FREE
Email us to register at frequencyprovidence@gmail.com
The class has been thoughtfully organized with the intention of providing a safe and welcoming space for veterans to read and write poetry in a community of other veterans. We are partnering with School One and Moses Brown School, and the class will include a public reading at Moses Brown School by author and veteran Brian Turner. The writers in the class will also have the chance to read from their work at a reading event in late May. It is open to all levels of writing experience.
What I am asking of you is simply your help spreading the word. You can help us by sending out this flyer and interview (below) to anyone you know who may be interested, posting it on social media, or posting it in public places in your neighborhood or town. You could also volunteer to contact veterans organizations with us (please reply if you would like to do that or hang flyers).
I am attaching the flyer for the class. And take a look at this interview with Tina Cane about the course. Please post and forward generously. Questions? Let us know!
